A new kind of normal in advertising – part 1 – automotive…

 

Due to the current global pandemic all kinds of industries have been heavily affected financially and, as a result the way products are advertised has been changing over the last few months.

Expect this to continue as the Winter draws in, which will may well alter the musical choices that advertisers make to best market their products. As a Music Sync agency this has a direct impact on Music of Substance and is the subject of this blog.

We have put together three different playlists in three different areas of the economy which we feel will be most affected by the changes we face. They are: Automotive, Travel and Holidays, and Christmas and Retail.

The idea of these playlists is to showcase the catalogue of music we represent and to offer ideas for advertisers and music supervisors.

One area that might benefit from the pandemic is the Automotive industry. Consumers will still need and want to purchase a car and given the fears surrounding public transport are likely to be spending more time in their cars than pre-COVID. Car manufactures however do face a vastly different challenge in the choices they make to best advertise in the coming years. With the global environmental crisis we all face becoming much more evident to consumers how to make buying an Electric or Hybrid car an attractive option to that market of “petrol heads”, who love cars generally and will take some convincing to make that much needed switch?

The playlist we have put together is designed to appeal to that market. It is full of expansive music and is based on the classic car advert. Shots of speeding cars within a vast cinematic landscape, which we believe remains the most effective way of advertising a car to that market. They still want that adrenaline rush and sense of individual freedom when driving which those adverts depict. Despite the huge environmental changes we all face, for some, the thrill of owning a fast car will never change.

The full playlist features 10 songs from our artists and is 45 minutes of music.

There also is a 10-minute video version with some typical car adverts visuals included to give you an idea of how each track would work within an advert. Each track plays for one minute.

All the artists featured are fully represented by Music of Substance and have many more tracks available for license.
